Just bought Inspiron 6000 series

I've been lookin for a laptop for a while, something with good wi-fi connectivity, fairly fast, not a pain to lug around, while not giving up multimedia performance.

Specs:

Pentium M 1.86ghz (533FSB)

15.4 WXGA LCD

512 shared DDR2 1dimm

128MB DDR ATI x300 pci

40gb 5400 rpm

xp media center edition

dvd/rw

6-cell battery

intel pro wireless 2200 card

After a 300 dollar affilliate couon i ended up paying 774 plus tax. Just curious to what u guys think, I'm gonna newegg another 512ddr2 corsair chip for 41 to bump up to a gig probably. Also 2 questions, is the inter pro wireless card worth the 30 dollars or so (had a feeling it was), just curious to if anyone knows if there's a substantion difference; and i play WoW on my desktop and im wondering if the x300 is gonna be capable of playing it at a relatively good level, i've heard some bad things about the x300 card

Only $774??!?

Thats a tremendous deal, i've been looking for laptops as well. That should be a decent gaming laptop, capable of playing new games on low-medium settings.

Where did you get that coupon?

this website is great for laptop deals goin on http://www.notebookreview.com/deals/?categoryID=3121,

but i just looked at it and i dont see the code anymore, it may have expired or exceeded it 4000 max use, basically dell automatically deducts 200 for you with the code i had it took off 300 instead (as long as u configure to above 999) so i basically saved 100 dollars with the code, though i don't have the code anywhere written down sorry.

I went looking around for some coupons, and i found this system:

Dell Inspiron 6000

Pentium M 1.70Ghz

DVD+/-RW

802.11 b/g WiFi

512MB DDR2

15.4" WXGA

40GB 5400RPM

128MB x300 PCI-E x16

XP Home

6-Cell Battery

All for $699 after $319 savings, its's very similar to yours expect a step below on the CPU.

ya, thats nice too, i was gonna configure that initially, but i opted for the 1.86 because i think the 1.7 had a 400 or 433mhz front side bus..?, and from what i've heard i think the 533 will give a significant performance boost, correct me if i'm wrong, but yea that website is bookmarked, its a keeper.

I saw this too : HP Pavilion zv6130us - $600

HP Pavilion zv6130us HP Pavilion zv6130us This Sunday CompUSA is going to have a laptop (HP Pavilion zv6130us) selling for $649.99 with a $50 MIR, the price now is 899.99.

So here is what you get- for 599.99: AMD Athlon 64 3200+ 2GHz Processor, 512MB RAM, 80GB Hard Drive, 15.4-inch WXGA TFT Display, DVD+/-RW Drive, Windows XP Home Edition.

Although this seems too good to be true, and my local compusa isnt open sundays, it's probably OOS anyway

yes dell runs premotions ALL the time! in fact i got my I9300 for $1100 from dell.

it has:

PM 1.6

512mb ram

100gb 5400rpm hdd

Nvidia 6800 gpu

17" screen

dvd burner

9cell batt (gets 4+ hours)

pretty good buy IMO. i went with the 1.6pm because i heard it was around a P4 2.8 in speed, so i took it and i haven't been disapointed yet, even play farcry on max, although another 512mb of ram would help.
