HELP FAST! laptop speakers...

ok, i just reformated my friends harddrive on his laptop and put windows xp home back on again...
k, now the speakers on his laptop dont work... anyone know anything about configuring laptop speakers? even when i put headphones in it doesn't work
i have to give it back to him 2morrow morning... HELP FAST!

Check to see if there is a sound driver that you can download and install from the manufacturer of the laptop. If you need to know the name of the sound chip, you can find the sound chip's name in Device Manager's list of devices by "Start-My Computer-right click-Properties-Hardware tab, Device Manager."

Also, I assume you've already checked the Sounds and Audio Properties window in the Windows XP Control Panel for the proper settings.
