Just bought a Refurbished Dell C600 - mixed feelings

I don't know too much about computers harware. I'm a college student on a tight budget, and wanted a laptop primary for Word processor, and WiFi internet.



This week I bought a 'refurbished' Dell Latitude C600 on eBay:

PIII 850 mHz

Windows 2000

256 RAM

20 GB

DVDrom

wireless network card - 'G'



I bought it for about $350, and though I haven't received it, I'm pretty happy about the purchase.



But then I think --isn't it a little TOO risky buying such an old laptop? Didn't it come out back in 2001?? yikes!



I've already considered selling it right away on eBay. I've looked at hundreds of C600 listings and they're selling consistantly in the $300-$400 range --then use that money to buy a brand new entry level Dell for $450-ish.



So help a newbie out here --what do you guys recommend I do.

The laptop will be taken well care off, and use mainly for MS Word, email, internet. Should I take the risk, and enjoy the cheap price and keep it?



Or sell it (plus $150-$200) for a new Dell (ie: Inspiron B120)?

First off, I never buy refurbs, particually laptops. They are not meant to be used a whole lot, so things tend to break/wear out rather quickly. Screens, hindges, and harddrives are usally the first to develop problems...

Second, I never buy the cheapest laptops money can buy. Why, because they are total crap and the laptop you have will probably work better than one of those.

If I were you, I'd just go on and keep the laptop unless you can afford a decent laptop, say 800-1000.

personally i would sell it and then buy a new one, but if u want to do word and stuff that is fine

yeah I know alot of people that buy like a $500 emachine (well now i think they have $300 ones) and then it breaks so they buy another one eventually it ends up that they would be better off buying a good pc like a hp or something. just buy an ok new one like the cheap acer laptops on newegg.com (I heard they were as good as brand name laptops at half the price but you should probably let someone verify this before buying it) and you just might end up saving more in the end.
