Hey all,

I have this older laptop and it has worked fine for a long time now, but I had it on the other day and using it as normal and all of a sudden the screen just shut off ...... first I thought the computer shutdown but I had music playing at the time and it was still going .... so I hooked it up to an external monitor and it displays fine as if nothing happened.... so basically the laptop screen itself is black/off from the minute that you turn the computer on, although it does work fine using an external monitor...



any ideas as to what happened or how to fix it? does this mean I will need a new video card or screen to make it work again?



I tried pushing the function key and one of the F keys to change the display but it just flashs and comes back to the external monitor.... any help or ideas is appreciated. Thanks
