Black Screen On Boot Up

Hi i have a n620c evo compaq laptop. Just recently i was downloading a program for a few days and keep it on. Then it suddenly froze, so i use the switch off power button on the right top corner to shut it off. Then when i go to reboot, the power LED is on there is power, but nothing else function. I get a black screen and it seems like it's not even reading my HD. If anyone can help and I thank you in advance..

sounds like your motherboard might have gone bad, could have gotten hot or something. I'd call compaq about it, it'll probably be something you will need to send in

Do u really think it over heated? So it would mess up my motherboard cause of that? How can i get this fix? i'll try calling compaq and see what they thinks thanks anyways

Have you tried holding down the power button for 10 seconds? And then turn it on? Also, try unplugging it and removing the battery for a few minutes.

yeah i have tried all that. HOlding down the power button does nothing. I took the battery out and use only AC power to start it up. Still the same problem occurs. Black screen, HD not booting but the power is there. SO i'm lost now i'm thinking about bring it in for a check up to see. but i rather try to figure this out myself.

Well you can chat with an HP Support rep by clicking here. They can go step by step with you (probably do the same things we suggested). Hopefully they can think of something else or issue you an RMA or other options, it's worth a try.
