graphics are distorted and compressed on brand new laptop

I have a brand new widescreen dell laptop and all my web graphics are distorted and compressed. I want to view webpages in there actual size but in compresses them smaller too. When I try to edit and make grahpics they are smaller in size than what they are supposed to be. How do I solve this issue? Is it some setting in the computer?

Well your widescreen laptop may have a higher resolution than what you're used to. You can't go around that, unless you change it to a lower resolution in Display Properties (in control panel). After you do that, it won't be in it's native resolution, so you may get distortion there also.

Thats stupid..... Thanks for the reply. What the hell is a widescreen on a laptop good for then. I do a decent amount of graphics and web design. This computer is junk for that then if I cant get everything in the correct size.
