intel pentium-m centrino processor 750 1.86ghz

im gettin a sony vaio laptop with the above processor and

512mb memory

256mb graphics

inside my question is is this a good proccesor? i wil be using the laptop for surfing the web,media use and playing games. ive been told that with will run as well as a more powerfull desktop cpu is this true? and also some of the games i have at the mo i.e san andreas and cc generals their spec ask for a p4 or amd equivilant processor will this be suitable? thanks.

yea that is all good but ur not gonna get very good battery life because of the large video card and 1.8 ghz processor but it will be fast, wat model of sony vaio are u getting?

His processor is a Pentium M... it will only consume 21-24.5 watts of power depending on the core (unless its an ultra low volt which will only consume 5-7 watts). You will see performances equivalant to or better a Pentium 4 Northwood 2.8GHz with no HT.

As for San Andreas here are the minimum requirements:

Windows 98/2000/ME/XP

Pentium PIII 800 MHz Processor or AMD Athlon

NVIDIA GeForce?or ATI Radeon?7000 or higher

CDROM 4X or Faster

256 MB RAM

These are the recommended requirements:

Windows XP

CPU Pentium 4 2.4GHz or Athlon 2200

Geforce FX 5700 or Radeon 9600 or higher

CDRom 52x or DVD Rom 16x

512 MB RAM

To answer your question plainly - you have nothing to worry about.

oh yea and the processors good enough, i would go 2.0ghz but thats fine

it was the nicest one i could find with a 256 card in it without breakin the bank

Yeah it looks smart as, i did look at the amilo one but that fact it is sony swayed me you are paying more for a similar piece of kit but i would rather pay more for something that you know will be made with good quality parts dont you think? just this minute rang my order in lol

will run the game fine. dont like vaios though. had two of them and both went bad.
