laptop variable speed


it seems it doesnt run at the speed of cpu, i 've seen a 2.2ghz processor running at 400mhz lol

nope ...the 2.2ghz runs at 2.2ghz they arnt downclocked lol

AMD's have Cool n Quiet which allows them to underclock when they aren't being used as much to keep things cooler and possibly slow the fans down. I beleive all(desktop and mobile) versions do similar things. I know it's quiet obvious on my laptop with it's Sempron. I've never seen it down to 400MHz! But it is quite commonly around 800MHz... I don't know if it just halfs the speed, or if the Athlons do any more...

Yes, I wasn't talking about the XP's, or CERTAINLLY not about the original T-Birds. My 1.4GHz is a little heater!

yeah mines have cool n quiet. the speed is comparable to my p4 desktop but the noise level is totally on the other end LOL
