Just One Quick Question

you know when you go and buy a cpu, with a dual core, when you look at the core clock speed (for example :http://www.ebuyer.com/product/125202...specifications. look at the clock speed. because its dual core. is it double that amount???

Each core runs at that speed.

No. Dual Core simply means there are two CPU cores, each running at the same speed, in this case, 3 Ghz. The speeds are not added together, so no 6 Ghz

Each core runs at 3.0GHz, however this doesn't mean that you have a combined CPU clock of 6.0HGz. Each core can perform a single task at full speed. This means that if you are running only 1 program or game, only one core will be working, so you won't have the 6.0GHz speed in this case, unless, the game or program supports dual core processors then it would use both.

Hope that helped!

so that means altogether the whole computer will be running at 6ghz

No, the computer can only function at 3GHz total. Each core can max out at 3GHz, but they don't get added together. The core clock speed is 3GHz.

but say you had a game that needed a 4ghz processor speed and you had that processor on that link to ebuyer. would it be able to run it using both cores????

What game requires 4GHz processor speed!? That CPU will run Crysis which is the most demanding game out right now, so you'll be fine.

If you're asking this to make sure if you should buy it, then think no more!

Dual core CPU's are the best choice right now. Just buy it and your comp will run like a champ!

But if you need a further explanation. It's like two separate CPU's. Imagine that your motherboard has two CPU's and you can only use each to do one task. In a way yes, you have the 6.0GHz because if you're burning a disc you use one core (3.0GHz) then if you start another demanding task, the other core will start going (which is total 6.0GHz). BUT, if you are only doing one thing, it will not perform using the whole 6.0GHz.

Hope I didn't confuse you.
