Data Export Import

I am having trouble importing excel spreadsheets into access. I am exporting a table and that works fine as a macro, but when I use the transfer spreadsheet action to import the worksheet I just exported I am getting field name mismatch errors. This is happening even after I have removed the captions from my table. Does anyone have any idea how I can get aropund this?

Did you "Change cell references in formulas to names"? These could be interpreted as column names

No, there are no formulas in the excel sheet. I haven't manipulated the data in any way.

Thanks for your help. I found out that my tables were exporting hidden characters in addition to my field data that were causing the import errors. I was advised by our DBA that Access is somewhat unstable and old Tables and queries can become corrupted causing this sort of problem. I was told that as a solution I should recreate my tables and use a query for my export to further strip down my data before importing. What do you think?

I agree with your DBA. Also a query yields output that can be understood by a large number of programs whereas using Office functions can sometimes go wrong for whatever reason. You were lucky to find those special characters as the cause of your pb. If they came from an import from another file (maybe even UNIX or so) it will still be a good idea to try to avoid putting them in the db. I know one case where ASCII "0" can be inserted in Access tables. They then cause troubles everywhere in Access.
