psu fan connector

Does the psu fan needs to connect to the motherboard's power fan connector? There is a such connector on the motherboard but on the psu doesn't seem to have one. So does this implies that the psu has a built in psu fan that does not recoive power from motherboard but from itself rather?

Most Psu's have the fan built in to the PSU circuit board. So no, but I have dealt with one that you had to cnnect to the motherboard, and that was a el cheapo one.

I am using the antec truepower trio by the way. Does it considered a solid psu?

lol i don't think there is such thing as connecting a PSU fan to a mobo to power it. it wouldn't make sense for something that powers on all the components to need power from the motherboard, which in turn gets power from itself. i'm pretty sure ALL PSUs have fans that are self powered

That's a slight error on their part. That connector is present on certain PSUs, and it enables the motherboard to monitor and report the speed of the PSU fan. It doesn't power the fan directly, and is not required or present on most models. The PSU powers its own fan.

it went by pretty fast and image wasn't the best, but when he was plugging in the case fan, it might have just been the plug to detect the RPM of the fan. maybe that was the same thing for the PSU fan. but from all the comps i've installed and played around with, none of them have mobos that power up the PSU fan so i don't think you have to worry about it

According to my understanding, you should feel air blowing out from the rear of the psu right?

But strangely for this psu, there is no air blowing out at the rear of it. It seems to be intaking air instead and there is a fan on the bottom of it too.

I thought most psu blows air out one? Anything to do with connections?
