Cleaning off thermal Paste

I know you can use alcohol to clean thermal paste, but non pure alcohol can leave residue behind, but I can't remember the name of that "pure" rubbing alcohol that won't do that.

Let's see there's normal rubbing alcohol which is like actually 70% alcohol, but I remember there was a name for the 100% pure stuff... damn what was it?

Ethanol. You could just use a tissue or toilet paper though. That seems to clean a CPU well if you rub it enough.

I use rubbing alcohol... Great stuff. Rubs off fast. Arctic Silver also sells a thermal paste remover ...

No wait... wasn't it called denaturize alcohol? something like that?

EDIT: I also heard you can use coffee filters as lint free wipes.

EDIT2: according to wikipedia, Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol is 99% alcohol

Yes, I just recently did this, You can use 70, 91 or 99 % ispropyl alcohol as a cleaner. I does a great job removing thermal pads and grease. I just recently used 91% on my Athlon 64 X2. Also, yes you can use coffee filters, but it is better to go out and buy a lint free cloth, I bout mine for a bout a dollar in the glasses section of Kroger, and it took everything off.
