FIRE in my PC

I got an idea to solder my power cable that goes into my IDE to SATA converter to a double molex connector thing, so i didnt have to run another PSU cable.

So i soldered the wires together and heat shrinked em, plugged it all in and watched it set alight. It stunk so bad. It has really annoyed me.

So now i realise that the molex connector that i pulled form my box of bits n bobs has been wired so the 5 V red wire is fed into the 12V yellow wire, so effectively i just sent 12 V through a 5 v device. I spose i should have checked this before, what a silly mistake (damn fan manufacturers wiring their fans at full speed)

Some pics for you to laugh at if you want.

Rant over
