What kind of power supply do I need?

For a Intel core 2 duo E6550, A gigabyte P35, 2 gb of ram, a hard drive, a dvd burner, some case fans, and a 8600 videocard?

Im thinking of getting an antec true power trio 550W

According to ceewi1's usful PSU Guides:

350 Watts and 18 amps on the 12 V rail for a 8600 GTS.

300 Watts and 20 amps on the 12 V rail for an 8600 GT.

That PSU should be good enough, but I'm sure people here can recommend a better one for the same price or less.

I always like to get a PSU with a good bit of headroom. The Antec should be fine in that regard. For the same price:

Corsair 450W, single 12V rail @ 33A

OCZ StealthXStream 600W, four 12V rails @ 72A

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817341010

Performance numbers seem to be rather high for the price. Either it's amazing, or...anyone?

Or you can begin looking a little lower down the spectrum.

Dave's Corsair is a good recommendation. It has good amperage @ the +12V rails, and can easily support any single GPU configuration.

Are the specs at newegg wrong? Am I reading them wrong? Looks like > 72A. ha ha:

Output +3.3V@36A,+5V@30A,+12V1@18A,+12V2@18A,+12V3@18A,

+12V4@18A,-
12V@0.5A,+5VSB@3.0A +12V4@18A,-12V@0.5A,+5VSB@3.0A

580w / 12= 48a.. not 44 my bad

so like the OCZ 700w is 680w to the 12v, so 680 / 12= 56a

i think thats it, if not its close, ceewi will correct me if so

but im 90% sure thats the formula
