I have been using this computer for about six months. I accidentally spilled coffee on my old one and they sent me a refurbished 6400, in early May this year. With the same AC adapter. And when I plug my computer in, it says something like "AC adapter not recognized, please plug in an AC760 adapter or the system will not charge." (something like that, I don't know exactly what it says)
Do I need to get a new battery? Basically I have 0% power, so if my laptop unplugs, then it just turns off. Very frustrating, should I just get a new laptop battery?
I don't know about this one, but I wouldn't advise getting a new battery this early on, it may just be a waste of money. Just pointing out the obvious, some laptop chargers have switches for power/charge - and also the battery software may be preventing it from charging as it did on one of my previous, early Dell laptops. If no-one here can help, try taking it down to your local PC shop, or if it's still under warranty, get another. If not, take the advice from the PC shop.
