got computer from a friend, used to be a work computer. now im trying to upgrade it but the case seems to be is sealed shut. any ideas or suggestions on how to open it myself? cheers

sorry. you're right, but i dont know how to be much more specific.
its an optima (australian manufacturer). dunno how to get more specific. the mother board is an intel d865glcl if that helps. after unscrewing it, it still wont open, asif something is keeping it shut from the inside or something.

Most cases have side panels that side back, as in they slide out if you push the side panels towards the back of the case. However, there are some that have front sliding panels. You just have to see which one you have.

Does the case use one of those "clamshell" designs Dells use?

There are two major style cases. The most common are ones that have removable side panels, which are secured by 2-3 screws. However as ^^ pointed out, other cases such as Dell's have the entire casing removed, in which case make sure all the screws are out which are attached to the outside casing.
