Xp only reads 2 gigs when I have 3?


hi, I have currently installed another 1 gig stick of ram in my pc. My bios detects the ram, and I can even see it in Cpuz, but for some reason Xp only sees or reads 2. I am running Xp pro Service pack 3.

Hm, let's see... maybe it's because you have an unreleased beta of a service pack? It's beta, therefore there may be problems with it. Unless that was a typo. And in that case I have no idea.

Well it did this with Sp2 also

is your motherboard configured to run memory in dual channel? If so it would only pick up the first pair of memory.

Ohhh....I think it is, cuz in Cpuz it says "Channels - Dual" So Im guessing I would fix this Via Bios???

Well there was no option in the bios to change it back to single, so I reseated the ram, now it reads as 2.5 gigs, Better but I'd still like to have 3
