take board out to install ram?

is it better to take the board out of your case to put ram in? there is a lot of strain on the board when installing processors, ram, cables, cards, etc, and i just didn't know how much pressure a board is built to withstand.

I did it with my board in the case. I think as long as the board is screwed into all the risers in your case, it wouldn't hurt it. Make sure to put the RAM in the right way though. Some RAM looks the same on both sides, but only works one way.

No you dont need to but it is easier to install things like the processor,ram when the boards out of the case.

Typically you don't need to. Unless your case has tremendous flex or something, it should be alright if the motherboard bends slightly.

If you're really worried, could you remove both sides of the case/shell and lay the plate the motherboard's connected to against something like some books? You know, something so it won't give as you push down on it.

You can take if out if you want, if theres a lot of cables in the way or if you feel you might break the boad, but you don't have to, i've never taken my board out to install RAM and i've never really felt like i'm putting any stress on the board.

You could take it out, but it would be frustrating dealing with all the power wires coming out of your psu.
