dual memory

To get dual channel memory, do you put the sticks in the slots next to each other, or the same color slots? Im not sure if my cheap dell supports dual channel, but i put hte sticks in the first 2 slots (all 4 same color, but the clips go black, white, black, white) and cpu-z said it was running single. Should i try to put them in where there both in slots with black clips? I dont know if it will make a difference.

It depends on the chipset. LGA775 goes 1/2 - 1/2, where AMD's 939 I believe goes 1/1 - 2/2, where the 1 and 2 represent the slots for dual channel.

Most motherboards are also color coded, so by installing them in the same colored slots, you should enable dual-channel.
