I get the following error (1st image) when putting files on my external storage device, it is 250GB and there is 130GB free space. This error only happens sometimes.
I have already done disk clean up. When i went to defrag the drive this CHKDSK error comes up (image 2). So i did a checkdisk and still no fix then also in Diskeeper i did a boot defrag which includes a CHKDSK and i still get this error telling me the disk is full.
I'm thinking that your hard drive is going in the deep !!!
anything related to bad sectors ? when windows always checkdisk at every startup !!
i suggest you back up & format

Ok i just realised someting as i unpacked a rar file. It says i cannot make a 4GB file on the FAT32 which is the external storage device. This is why i get the space issue and disk error. Does anyone know why i cant defrag.

Try to download Auslogics Disk Defrag and defrag with that. If that doesn't work, go to Start -> Run -> cmd -> Defrag C: (or d: or what ever).

Ok its currently defragging......i managed to run the windows error checking, it took over 3 hours. My current defraggin software is now working fine again. The defrag is taking about the same, it wasnt very fragmented but there was blue and white gaps everywhere.
