Memory Question

Maybe someone here can give me some insight into this. I just installed "cpu-z" on my computer and while going through the memory info. it says that I have 512 MBytes of SDRam, which I do, but in the slots it says different.

Slot 1 - 256 MBytes

Slot 2 - 64 MBytes

Slot 3 - 64 MBytes

Is this normal? Where's the other 128 MBytes?

Actually, I have a video card, albeit is rather dated. It's an Nvidia Geforce2 MX/MX400 with 32Mb of ram.

hmmm,...try uninstalling your ram, clean the metal conductors using a rubber eraser, an place it on a different slot,...

It would still recognize the RAM, though, I would think. CPUZ doesn't tell you what's available to use, it simply tells you what you have.

Hmm...I agree, pull out all the RAM and make sure it's properly re-seated.

Odd indeed.

System properties(general tab) and bios both say 512MBytes. However msinfo32 states that there is only 384MBytes of total physical memory and only 227.33 physical memory available.
