You build a system around the board selected. The drives certainly wouldn't be any problem. I run Vista on a WD 250gb ide model with XP on the first of two WD 500gb satas on a 700w OCZ supply here. Eventually Vista will go onto one of those if not the next version while the second drive used for storage will eventually see a replacement for that purpose namely the new line of 1tb WD drives out. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136151

yea i was looking into that drive. but i dont need 1tb storage. i plan on running windows xp. have heard mixed opinions about vista thus far.

just wasnt sure if the dries i had selected would work with the mobo i had selected. still new to the whole what will work with what deal. getting the mobo within the next few days here. should be good once the comps built.

I moved the two satas out of the last build here with all files intact. Of the fist of the two sata got wiped as expected while all files on the second remained intact. But the change was seeing XP Pro on the first on the last with the Home version currently seen. Vista still sat on one of two 250gb ide twins there.

The large capacity now needed is not just for one system presently. Besides backing up and storing files for both versions of Windows updates and drivers for older versions like 98 for different older cases. Video captures love drive space as well. Try seeing 420gb used up in the first week when first putting the twin 500gb models in. "gone that fast?"
