Ram Decision

Currently I have CORSAIR ValueSelect 1GB (2 x 512mb) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

Timing (According to CPU-z) 5-5-5-15

I want to get some more ram. Should I go with.

CORSAIR ValueSelect 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 667 (PC2 5300)

And keep using what I have now. Giving me 3 GB

OR

Should I go with

CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)

Timing 4-4-4-12

And just have 2GB of better ram.

I am not a heavy user, mainly internet browsing/multi tasking, some older games, some photo shop stuff and occasional video editing. I am running XP but plan to go to Vista.

Current specs are

ASUS P5N-E SLI

C2d 6400

1GB DDR2 5300

So whats better More ram or less but better quality and higher speed.

I would definetly go with the Corsair XMS2 because one it is DDR800, and it probably has better timings, and you can overclock it.

For what you described your use as, and with moving to Vista, I'd just say get the 2 GB. You don't need performance RAM if you're not gaming (especially with older games) or video editing everyday, but if you want 800 Mhz, then grab it. I have 3 Gigs right now (missed that part in the first-read through) and only noticed a slight difference with certain apps while using XP.

Ok, I really need to look at the Post/Preview buttons before clicking...

Anyway, in finishing... I have 3 Gigs right now with XP. 2 x 512 are 533, and 2 x 1024 are 667. I noticed very little difference between the 2 Gigs of 667 and the 3 Gigs of 533. I don't game, and don't do video editing, though I do run several programs at once and not one issue.
