I had a computer a while back that went dead (i think it was just the power supply), but I parted it out and I have the hard drive with a number of files that I need. I have a laptop now, and I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to hook this internal hard drive up to my laptop (treating it like an external) and retrieve the files I need.
PLEASE HELP!
Get an external harddrive enclosure, then it just plugs in through USB like any removable drive.

will any external hard drive enclosure work?

Yes No
If the drive is an IDE, you need an IDE enclosure; if it is a SATA, then you need a SATA enclosure. That's pretty much it.
From you post I assume it was a desktop system (and not a Laptop), so you would also want to make sure the enclosure is for 3.5" drives. (2.5" for laptop drives)
