Ide, Eide, Ata, Sata, ??????

Hello, and thanks in advance for any help.

I've got a Compaq Presario 2500 that had the HD just craped out.

I know it's an IDE 2.5 40 gig hard drive.

I've got to replace this and all I can find are ATA, EIDE, and SATA drives.

I'd like some extra capacity and was looking at the following but not sure if they are the right drives for my laptop.

Western Digital Scorpio WD1200BEVE 120GB 5400 RPM 8MB Cache ATA-6 Notebook Hard Drive - OEM:

Seagate Momentus 5400.3 80GB Hard Drive 5400RPM, Internal, 8MB Cache, ATA-100

Your help is appreciated,

Dave

Either of those drives should be fine. PATA, ATA, EIDE, IDE, etc etc... They all mean the same thing. As long as it has a 44 pin connector, you should be fine. Well, I say that, you might have a limitation on the size of the hard drive, but that'd probably happen around 127GB...

Thanks T_O_O,

I'll order the 120 from Newegg.

Now to figure out if any data can be recovered.
