crucial ballistix tracer pc8500 ram

Is the above ram compatible with the gigabyte P35-DS3 motherboard? The crucial ballistix tracer is available in 2gb kit as well as a single 1gb. Is it still possible to run in dual channel if I get 2 sticks of 1gb ram instead of the 2gb kit ram?

Yes 2 1GB sticks will dual channel fine. The RAM should run fine in that board as well.
