Unknown Error Formatting Partition

I have partition magic that I'm using to format and partition stuff. I installed a second operating system, one had Windows XP Pro on it the other had Windows XP Pro x64 Edition. I kept Windows XP Pro for a bit to make sure the installation of x64 worked correctly. Everything is hunky dory, now I want to get rid of everthing on the partion that has windows xp pro. The only problem is I always get an error, it says "unknown error occured while formatting," what the heck is wrong? I've tried it several times. Thanks.

Use the Disk Management utility in Windows. Right Click "My Computer" -> Click "Manage" -> Click "Disk Management." Right click the partition you would like to format and click format.
