new hard drive

I'm thinking of putting in a new hard drive and have a quick question. For the power connector, do I just buy like at 6" length, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16812104652

and then connect it to an extra 4 pin thing coming from the power supply?

Also, SATA vs SATA II. Worth the upgrade?

If the supply you currently have lacks a sata power connector then the adapter simply uses a standard power connection used for an ide type drive. As far as how much gain from going from S-ATA to S-ATA II and now III that is still limted by the hardwares there despite boards now seeing the faster 3.0 bus. That's why the WD Raptor 10,000rpm drives have gained in popularity for use as the OS drive over 7,200rpm seen on both ide and sata drives.
