USB Drive Reading iPod

This is a recent problem I have been having. I am running Win XP and when I plug my iPod into a USB, I get the Windows message about selecting an option. I can either use the I-Pod with RealPlayer or 'Take No Action'. Having selected neither of these options, I can't access my iPod. When I open iTunes, my iPod isn't read there either.

Through researching this issue, it seems pretty common. However I can't get a straight answer for a resolution. Any help is appreciated.

have you tried restarting your iPod, that can sometimes help iTunes to find it.

if that doesnt work, is you iPod up-to-date? have you used the iPod software recently, plug your iPod in and check and see if the iPod software (not iTunes) picks it up. also check the website for updates.

Was this ever solved in a concrete fashion?

I am experiencing the same troubles, with the same error code.

I have a 5th generation Ipod.

I looked up the issue on different ipod forums, googled the code and follwoed tons of leads.

-I've uninstalled all the software (itunes/ipod), and removed the device from the device manager..

-I've looked for different versions of the usbstor.sys driver.

-I've successfully used the ipod on many other computers.

-I've successfully used other devices in all of the usb ports on this computer.

-I've tried a different connection cable.

I'm really running out of options, and it's driving me nuts. The computer I wish to use it on is my work pc, and there's only one here to work with.
