New HD Enclosure, but drive not showing up


I just bought a hard drive enclosure, but for some reason the drive wont show up on "My Computer". I would love to refer to the directions, but it didnt come with any, so does anyone have any ideas?

I have the same problem. I think the solution is to find drivers for the enclosure.

Right-click My Computer, Manage, Disk Management. See if the drive is listed there. Some times you simply need to right-click it and assign a drive letter.

Do you get any error pop-ups soon after plugging it in? The reason for my hard drive not working is USB related I think (doesnt show in Disk Management).

Don't you have to format and partition it like any other brand new drive?

Yup. That's probably what he has to do. I've decided to buy a 2.5" IDE to 3.5" IDE adapter in a few days.

That's what I had to do when I got mine, so Sup2: Right-click My Computer, Manage, Disk Management. Your drive should show up there and you can right click on the drive and format or create a patition if that needs to happen.
