RAID question

i read the raid 101 and it didnt really answer my question. right now i jat have a WD 16mb cache 160gb sata hard drive. and i simply want more space. would it be better to get another drive like it and hook them up in raid. also is raid really that big of a difference and which raid is better for space/performance?

RAID 0 is faster than a single drive for reading large files

it wont speed up reading lots of small files, tho, because the bulk of that read time is seek-time as it is

RAID's not a bad idea, but the fact that the drive you have is only 160gb would lead me to suggest you just invest in a larger new drive, since you can get a 500 gig drive for ~$150 now

If you just need more storage just get another drive and put it in, don't bother with RAID. For most home users RAID is useless.
