I have the same question. (not trying to hijack the thread, I saw it was pretty old)

My Maxtor hard drive just took a dump on me. My firend who built my PC said I need a hard drive that is IDE Ultra DMA and reccomended a Western Digital. I'm a newb so I need help finding a compatible hard drive for my system. I don't understand Ultra DMA, ATA and all of that. I play a lot of online action games if that means anything.

Thanks for any help.
