Why do you get these? any reason? i seem to be getting a few on my hdd's?
probably bad clusters. This is caused when the head hits the glass platters and causes a bad sector, sometimes an error check helps to mark them before they are written on. Also files can corrupt when you print.

There are number of things that can cause corruption or damage to files on any drive. A bad install of a program can often see drivers crosslinked to system files themselves. Or you have accidently downloaded some type of malware without knowing it. If you move and copy a large number of files sometimes you will see some that were only partially not fully copied from another hard drive or removable media. A bad download of an mpg or video files will be seen as a corrupted file when a player is unable to play it.
