hay wats better having 2x 150gb or getting a 300gb and splitting them up?
In the even that a hard drive should fail, if you had 2x150GB, then half of your data would still be intact.
But if I were you, I would get the 300GB since one larger drive is usually cheaper then two smaller drives.

Otherwise just get a 300gb

i prefer having 2 drives...i hate partitions i always mess them up and end up losing several GBs of space

Just another view
i'm having 3 partitions(in spite of i had to buy software )
1) for programs files.
2) windows
3) backups (it makes me fill safe).
that works really great.
