I am planing on biulding a PC next week. But since I've never built an AMD machine I dont know how much memory is important to the setup. So my question is. What memory should I go with ( I am getting an ASUS motherboard, and have to deside on which one to get, M2N-SLi which is DDR2 only or some other asus that is DDR.) I am putting an AMD Athlon 64 dual core processor on it. What I am trying to do is try to save some money but if the memory makes a big different in performance then I'd rather save up a lil more and get better built PC.
Thank you very much
Well it comes down to DDR runs on 939 sockets and DDR2 works on AM2 sockets

AM2 is the newer socket, so if building a new system go with AM2

Only by a very small amount 1-5%. Although the prices for AM2 motherboards and fast DDR2 memory can make it not worth it to some people.

i would agree with omega...the price of 939 socket processors has dropped a ton recently making them very good affordable processors
