HDD Failure or something else?

Okay, well I was using my PC tonight and I've recieved at least 5 BSODs. 1 every hour or so. I took out 1 stick of RAM to see if maybe one or the other was bad. The most recent BSOD indicated that the problem was "atapi.sys". Now, I think that indicates and IDE drive, and I think it may be the hard drive. A minute ago during POST, my HDD would click every second. When it clicked, it sounded as though it was slowing down, and then when it clicked again, it sound as though the speed returned to normal. So, is it HDD failure, or is atapi.sys not related to my HDDs. I hope it's just HDD failure, and not two problems.

Update: My SMART monitoring program reads A-Okay on both HDDs health, so what the hell else is clicking?, or why would my HDDs be clicking?

SMART is not a 100% sure way to test your drives. It does sound like it might be drive related. Seeing as you have WD drives, you should be able to find some diagnostic program for them on their site. Run it and see if any fail.

Thanks for all the help, I install WD DataLifeguard Diagnostic and it reported 10% health on my C:\ drive. Just this morning I started my computer and my HDD made a god awful scratching noise and reported "DISK BOOT FAILURE" at POST. Looks like I can finally get that Raptor I've always wanted.
