HDD's will not show.


after i reinstalled windows xp on my system, i started to plug in the hdds. they are reconized, but they wont show up in 'my computer'. so i dont kno how to get to them. they stil have tons of valuble info on them. can anyone help me out here?

your hard disk is it formated on another Pc then transfer over to your currently PC tat u had jsut formated window Xp ? if that the case .. window Xp wont be able to open your hard disk because window cp will recongise your hardware confi .. so .. it wont work .. try formating to winndow 2000 then u should be able to access to your data in that hard disk

What?



You have to format and make a partition on all of the HDD's. Atleast one partition per HDD.

well it was from windows xp b4. but i had to start fresh and installed a fresh version of windows xp. so.. tell me how i can keep the info....all the info...

I don't really have a clue what blurblock was saying, and if the hard drives have already got data on them, then they must already be formatted with a partition. If you want to keep all the data that's on them, mrjack telling you to format them doesn't sound too sensible.



Go take a look in Computer Management, via Control Panel > Administrative Tools. It is possibly just the case that you need to assign some drive letters.

ok.......iono y. but yestterday i reinstalled windows AGAIN. for the 4th time............... and yea, all of a sudden the next day, my 80gig hd showed up.... then i reinstalled the RAID controller drivers. and now all my drives are back. no problemo at all..... wat ...the....hell??? i dont care, at least it all works now. but thanks for tryin to help guys. magicman. LOL
