XP and SATA?


someone told me you cant have windows xp on a sata drive? my planned build would use 2 SATA hdd's in raid formation. is this true??

Thats completely untrue, you can install XP on a SATA Drive. In fact, most people who have XP also have SATA drives.



What kind of raid were you going to use?

Yeah, totally untrue... My last 3 computers have used SATA drives as their main boot drives.

Whoever said that to you was definately barking up the wrong tree. It is true that the XP setup does not include SATA drivers, and so many motherboards come with a floppy with such drivers on it. A lot of later motherboards, though, have integrated circuitry which makes SATA drives appear as IDE ones, helping in installation.
