Do I have the right memory?

The other day I was in my BIOS and I noticed that my P4 said that it runs at a speed of 533Mhz and the front bus is rated at 533Mhz i guess. Well my 2x 512 memory I have in there say that it is only 333Mhz. Could this be why my PC still seems a little slow? At work my PC only has 1x 512 and it's pretty quick, but at home it's so slow that I actually watch my Start menu scroll up when I try to open it. I upgraded about a year ago from 256 to 1024 and honestly I don't see much of a diffrence, and now I'm wondering if I put in the wrong memory back then. Can anyone help?????? I'm confused!

the memory is fine, its just slower. it'll load everything, it might take another second or two!

yes, that could be the reason things load slow, depending on your processor, or even your hard drive!

your FSB is 133Mhz, but however intels are quad pumped so its 533Mhz (133x4), your memory is PC2700 ((DDR)dual data rate-166x2=333Mhz), for max performance its best that your RAM and FSB work at same frequency, 1:1 (133:133), your memory runs at 166MHz and your CPU at 133MHz, nothing to worry about that, its maybe that u have spyware or viruses, if u dont know whats slowing it down and u have free time best solution is a fresh new copy of windows

Thanks for the info! I'm probably going to go ahead and re-install Windows, I don't want to but I think that would be best. I've ran several spyware programs and virus scans and the thing still runs pretty slow.
