I was recently given a four year old computer, it's not top of the range but at least I have one now to do me til I save up my pennies for something better.
What I really need to do in the meantime is add some RAM (256 currently) but I'm not sure what kind of RAM is installed on the machine- thought it'd be in hardware profiles in Control Panel --> System but no.
So, any ideas?
Thanks
Most likely SDRAM, are you able to open the case us and see what it says or how many pins it has?

Hi, had a look in there it says KR266x64c25/256

Would i be right in saying that I have to get 184-pin 266MHz to go with it?
Do I have to double-up with memory (add another 256 to the current 256?) Can I then add another 512 to that or can I just slot in 512 straight away (add 512 to current 256).

how many DIMM slots do you have? And yes you can just add 512stick to the current 256. But make sure you have enough slots first.

Got three slots. One 256 DIMM in first slot.
Enough slots? Sure, I only need the one for another 512 stick innit?
