seting up new sata hdd?

im not verry familiar with hooking up more than one hdd and didnt uderstand the raid101. If i bought one, how would i go about seting it up. do i just plug it into the second sata input on the mobo and it magicaly works? will windows recognise it? will it be on my computer? will i be able so it appears as one drive like a normal ATA raid?



Oh yea and i have a 40gig ATA drive sitting from my non running dell. How would i go about installing this on my system? would it coperate with the SATA drive already running?

to organize raid you should buy pci sata raid controller and plug your HD into it. but if you have integrated-in-motherboard raid controller you should just plug new HD into second sata input and it will magically work! sorry for my poor english.
