removable SATA HDD

i put together my new computer with a WD SATA HDD. it shows up in the system tray as a removable drive like a thumb drive. when i look at it in my computer it has the normal C drive icon not a thumb drive removeable icon. so is this some feature of SATA HDD's? installed w2kpro SP4.

sata drives are hot swappable. but you should not remove a boot drive though.

why does it come up as unplug or eject in the system tray?
