Beeping on my External Harddrive

i have a problem with my external hard drive which happens everytime i use it. i stalls and makes beeping noises, sounding like the drive is stuck going on and off

ultra ATA/100 200gb seagate with/ a USB 2.0 ADS Tech HD enclosure

sometimes it shows that there is a time write delay and running check disk doesn't seem to work.

anybody have any thoughts about this, or some knowledge on it that can maybe help me find a solution?
