what can my mobo hold?


the type of ram that came with my computer/mobo was pc 2700



does this mean the only kind of ram i can hold is pc 2700??

from what i can tell form other websites, it only appears to hold pc2700. if it would hold 3200 it wouldnt make much difference. and it can take up to 2GB

Oi which one is it? Of course the common denominator is 845G so looking that up http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/845g/index.htm youll find it supports up to DDR266 memory (i.e., PC2100). Since you've got PC2700 running in there you must be on one of the inherieted chipsets

Since you've got a Gateway it's either an 845GE or GV (they tend to not put in faster RAM then they need too) You can get away with any DDR RAM but more PC2700 is the best way to go.

You can use any speed of ram, it will just run at the speed of the fastest ram that is listed as compatible.
