DD2 Ram question & latency

Hey guys, I just upgraded my motherboard to an ASUS p5ad2-e premium motherboard, and paired that with a set of geil 2x512 ddr2 ram...here's the link http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820144324

my question is, why don't they have something with better latency? i've searched all of newegg, a several other sites, even the corsair XMS ram gets a latency of 3 =/

the one i have has a latency of 4, so i was wondering if there's something weird going on with dd2 or is it still in development?

the motherboard supports ddr2 533 speed (either 4200 or 4300) so if anyone knows whats going on, or knows a site that sells this type of ram with a 2.5 or 2 latency rating, please post...thank you!

With CPU clock speeds going through the roof, even the venerable DDR memory is beginning to show signs of becomming a bottleneck, As such, DDR2 was developed with the goal of allowing for significantly improved memory speeds (at a cost of latencies, see VFAQ for more info).

So it seems at the moment you cant have the fast clock speed and low latency, not yet anyhow.

I didn't search very hard though myself, and i recently learnt i should be willing to accept that my answer may not be definative. Anyone shed more light onto this?

DDR2 lets you get very high bandwidth so that the high latencies mean nothing. As DDR2 matures the latencies will shrink, GeIL has some 3-3-3-8 DDR2 533 sticks but you have to increase the voltage to gurantee it.

Hehe of course them Kingston sticks @ say... hmm... 866... as you say, latenties dont matter worth crap
