looking to do new build

I'm looking to upgrade my computer to handle all these new games coming out now. My current computer is about 4 years old with a couple upgrades. It barley meet the minimum requirements to run these games. Needless to say it barely operates. Im looking to buy a new mother board, cpu, graphics card, and a little ram. I got 1.25 g ram, so i dont need much. Although buy P 4 2.6 Ghz, and ATi all in wonder9600 dont cut it anymore.

I wish to be able to efficiently run these new games, and truly enjoy the graphics, effects, gameplay, etc.

Any ideas on parts would be appreciated. My budget would be around $600, but is flexible to a degree.

fist off if you plan to use the ram you currently have what speed is it? if you want to use it the motherboard must be compatible. and do you want new everything or are you going to use the case, psu, optical drive, hard drive and just get a new motherboard, processor and vid card?

Im starting with existing parts. I can upgrade those later. I am open to ddr2 ram but not quite yet, unless it makes enough of a difference.

you can start fresh with new case psu ram (ddr2 and everything) you can use your hard drive or get a new one and keep a budget of under 800 bucks but if you want to keep that stuff then 600 bucks is possible i'll post a possible build in a little let me look around... amd or intel? xp or vista?

The catch....
1. This is using your current hard drive
2. The video card is currently out of stock... lame could fine a different one how much gaming do you do ... what do you want in a video card.
3. MIR the case has $10 the video card $20 and the RAM $40

You could get a case with a psu in it but the psu tends to be really crappy... but it would lower the price. Let me know what you think everything is on newegg.

the video card is directed towards gaming. it is the main purpose of my pc, so a quality card is a must in my opinion.

Ok well what is a better figure of your budget... because people with a 600 dollar budget don't drop over 200 on a processor normally. So how much are you WILLING to spend because I was trying to keep it on the inexpensive side?

i was initially speaking of the motherboard, processor, and graphics card alone in the budget. With the addition of ram perhaps.

At this time im not to worried about hardrive space or drives. Its just going to be pieced into my current system until further upgraded.
