idle my second hard drive?

should i switch any of my hard drives off when they are not in use - automatically in control panel, power options?



will this increase or decrease the life span of the hard drives?



i am not concerned about saving power. if people already do so, what time interval should i set it to?

I usually have mine switch off after an hour or so. I'm not sure if this really has any effect on the HDD life, I just don't see a point in having something on that doesn't need to be.

Turning something on and off is not necessarily a good idea, it killed my lgranma's IGP. I dunno if it will have any effect on hdds, though.

Consider getting a hdd cooler..
