Registry recovery?

I have Windows XP on my laptop. Now whenevr I start it a message appears "one of the file of regisrty had to be recovered...recovery sucessful using log file"...something like this. If recovery is successful, why this message appears everytime I start my laptop. Please guide me how to make this recovery permanent so as to avoid that message again.
