I just removed a 128 MB memory chip in my laptop, and installed a 256 MB . It shows up 128 MB in the BIOS and also in CPUZ. What coul be the problem? Its new ram from Crucial and its labled 256 MB which is what I bought.

Whats the slot limit of the board? 
If the limit is 128 then shoving even a 512MB module isnt gonna do anything
