Do i Need a New Drive?

Right now i have a dell dimension 3000 computer and am going to get a new computer soon. I was wondering if i need to get a dvd drive or if i can just take the ones i already have off my dell and put them in my new computer.

If the drives are in good shape and working properly they should go right in to save money that way. You can also look over several whether ide or sata for $30 or less at this time since prices have fallen sharply over the last several years.

If you have the extra casg one thought is to pick up new drives for the next system and keep the old ones as spares to have onhand. I keep a 5yr. old Sony model under the desk here while the casing seen on the older models was longer then seen on the more recent drives. Top 5 1/4" for that one to avoid touching the board.
